How This Page Works
X Posts
Posts by known accounts (PM Modi, PMO, opposition leaders, and the PTI, ANI, IANS and UNI X accounts) are read from their public X timelines through FxTwitter, a free public service, with the exact link to each post and the account's profile photo. Other posts (states, public trackers, world) are the ones Google News has indexed, mostly within the past 24 hours (up to 3 days for individual opposition leaders). This page does not log into X and does not use X's official API.
Top News, Agencies & Regional
Leading stories from Google News in Hindi and English, PTI, ANI, IANS and UNI's own X posts plus their website stories (via Google News searches of their websites), and Google News editions in Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam and Punjabi. Every item links to its original source. Google News has no Kannada or Urdu edition, so those are not covered yet.
Today's Summary method
Extractive, no AI: the top 3 stories in Google News India's English “Nation” section, in Google's own ranking order with near-duplicates removed, plus the top 3 Hindi stories in the fold-out. Headlines are shown exactly as published.
Hashtag-based tracker
Posts in the “Public: Support” and “Public: Criticism” tabs are selected automatically by the hashtags and phrases listed on each tab. This is not sentiment analysis. No manual curation, human review, or AI-based content selection is involved, and some party, media or government posts can slip through.
Experimental tone classifier
A free keyword list running in your browser marks posts that contain support- or criticism-related keywords, with the number of keywords matched. It is experimental and keyword-based: it may be wrong, it does not understand sarcasm or mixed opinions, and it only reads Hindi, Hinglish and English. Treat it as a hint, not a measurement.
Automatic Updates
The page fetches fresh data every five minutes without reloading, and shows when each section was last updated (IST). If a source is unavailable, the last data saved in your browser is shown with a notice.
Indexing Delay: near real-time, not live
Items from Google News appear only after Google indexes them, which can take several minutes to several hours; in our checks a typical item was 5 to 13 hours old. Posts read from known X accounts usually arrive within minutes. The page is therefore near real-time, not live.
Duplicates & verification flags
Near-identical headlines from different outlets are grouped into one card with an “N sources” count. Items whose text mentions viral claims or fact-checks get a “Verification needed” flag with links to fact-checkers. The flag is never a verdict.
Live Access
Tap the “𝕏 Live” button to visit X and explore the latest posts directly on the platform.
Sources & Attribution
Content is sourced from Google News RSS feeds and publicly available posts on X. No news articles or X posts are independently authored, reproduced, or republished on this page. Each item links directly to its original source for reference and verification. X posts are either links Google News shows or the public timeline of a known account read through FxTwitter; this page does not log into X or use X's API. Profile photos are the accounts' public X photos.
⚙ Filters & export on
Search and filters work on the items already loaded in this section (up to the last 24 hours; 3 days for single opposition leaders). All words must match.

X Monitor X monitoring & intelligence: keyword search, account watch, trend analytics and alerts
What is real, what is limited
- Search Monitor finds X posts that Google News has indexed. X's own search needs the paid X API, so results can lag minutes to hours and will not include every post.
- Account Watch reads each account's latest public posts live through FxTwitter, a free public reader, with the like, repost, reply and view counts it returns.
- Trend Analytics charts only those real numbers, plus keyword counts this browser has saved. Nothing is estimated.
- Alerts work while this page is open. Background or phone push alerts need a server (Phase 2).
- Your keywords, watched accounts and alerts are stored in this browser only.
Via Google index, may lag minutes to hours. X posts from the last 7 days that Google News has indexed, newest first. Saved keywords are stored in this browser and are checked for alerts while this page is open.
Up to 25 accounts, saved in this browser. Posts are read live through FxTwitter (fallback: Google News).
Account Compare
Compare 1 to 4 public X accounts over a date range, with the real counts X shows on each post.
How far back this can go: the free reader returns only each account's most recent posts (about 20 to 100), so a long range may not be fully covered. Each account shows the date its data starts; earlier dates need the official X API (Phase 2). Posts read here are also stored in this browser, so history builds up over time on this device. Views can be missing on some posts and are shown as “—”, never estimated.
Charts use only real numbers: the latest posts FxTwitter returns for your watched accounts (about 20 each, with their like, repost and reply counts), and keyword counts this browser saved each time a search ran. Not shared history.
Alerts work while this page is open; background/phone push alerts need a server (Phase 2). Every 5 minutes the page checks your saved keywords and watched accounts for new posts, and flags a spike when the last hour has at least 3 posts and 3× the average hourly volume.
Saved Searches
Stored in this browser only. Saved searches live in this browser's local storage on this device. They are not sent to any server, do not sync to other devices, are not alerts, and are deleted if you clear this site's data.
To save one: open News Updates or any feed section, type a search or set filters, then tap “★ Save this search”.
Methodology & Sources
Source health
Checking every feed… the first check can take up to 30 seconds.

Sources
Every item on Bharat Pulse comes from a public Google News RSS feed: Google News' India editions (English, Hindi and seven regional languages), Google News searches for X posts (site:x.com), and Google News searches of the four news agencies' websites. Posts by known X accounts (PM Modi, PMO, the listed opposition leaders, PTI, ANI, IANS and UNI's own accounts: @PTI_News, @ANI, @AHindinews, @ians_india, @IANSKhabar, @uniindianews, and the four people lists below) are read from their public timelines through FxTwitter (api.fxtwitter.com), a free, open-source public service, with Google News as the fallback. Each card says “via Google News” or “via X” and links to the original publisher or X post. Bharat Pulse does not write, edit or summarise any item with AI. The full registry (every feed, its exact URL, language, coverage and refresh interval) is in the Source health table above and at /api/sources.
People lists (Political Monitor)
The Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, Diplomats, Commentators and Party Voices tabs each read a fixed list of public X accounts, kept in one editable file (/people.json). Each account's own posts from the last 14 days (up to 4 per account) are read through FxTwitter, with Google News as the fallback. A tab's accounts are fetched only when the tab is opened, a few at a time; each account is time-boxed so a slow one cannot hold up the rest, and the server keeps each batch for 5 minutes. Accounts with no account on X, or no readable posts in the window, are shown greyed out as “no recent posts”.

X Monitor
Search Monitor reads Google News' index of x.com (site:x.com plus your keyword, last 7 days, English and Hindi editions), because the free X reader has no search; results can lag minutes to hours and do not include every post. Account Watch reads each watched account's latest public posts (about 20) through FxTwitter, with the like, repost, reply and view counts it returns, and falls back to Google News. Trend Analytics charts only those numbers and the keyword counts this browser saved each time a search ran; nothing is estimated, and browser snapshots are not shared history. Alerts run only while the page is open: every 5 minutes it checks saved keywords and watched accounts, flags new posts, and flags a spike when the last hour has at least 3 posts and at least 3× the average hourly volume before it. Background or phone push alerts need a server (Phase 2). Account Compare (in Trend Analytics) reads up to 5 pages of each account's own timeline from FxTwitter (20 posts per page, so about 100 recent posts; reposts are left out because their counts belong to someone else) and shows likes, reposts, replies, quotes, bookmarks and views exactly as returned. Impressions are X's view counts; engagement rate = (likes + reposts + replies + quotes) ÷ views, over posts that have a views count. A pinned post doesn't count as coverage. For busy accounts 100 posts can cover less than a month, so each account shows the date its data starts; older dates need the official X API (Phase 2). Posts read are kept in this browser (up to 400 per account) so history builds up on that device. Keywords, watched accounts (up to 25), compare history and alerts are stored in this browser only.
Collection, refresh and time
- Refresh: the server re-reads a feed at most once every 5 minutes, and only when someone views that section; results are cached for 5 minutes. Your browser asks for new data every 5 minutes without reloading the page. There is no background scheduler, so when nobody visits, nothing is collected.
- Published time is the publication time Google News reports for the item (for posts read from X, the time the post went up on X). Received time is when Bharat Pulse's server fetched the feed that contained it. All times are shown in IST (UTC+05:30).
- Near real-time, not live: an item appears only after Google News indexes it; that typically takes minutes to hours. In our checks on 29 Oct 2026 a typical item was 5–13 hours old.
- When a feed fails: the server serves its last good copy (marked “source temporarily unavailable”), and your browser falls back to the copy it saved last (marked “showing saved data”), never a made-up item.
Duplicates
Identical links are shown once (tracking parameters such as utm_* are ignored). Different outlets' headlines are grouped into one card with an “N sources” button only when they share at least 5 meaningful words and either 60% of all their words overlap, or 85% of the shorter headline (6+ words) appears in the longer one. Common words (“the”, “के”, “news”…) are ignored. The rule is deliberately cautious: two different stories are never merged on a few shared words, so some true duplicates stay separate.
Public trackers: hashtag matching rules
The “Public: Support” and “Public: Criticism” tabs are hashtag-based trackers, not sentiment analysis. A post appears when Google News returns it for the search terms below and its text contains one of the “keep” words.
Loading the current lists…
Excluded
- Loading…
Known biases and false-positive risks
- The hashtag lists were chosen by hand on 29 Oct 2026 from what Google News was returning; they cover a few campaigns, not public opinion as a whole.
- A post can use a hashtag to mock it, quote it or report on it; it still lands in that tab.
- When the post author is unknown (common on this server), party, minister and media posts can slip through the exclusion rules.
- Volume reflects what Google News chose to index, not how many people posted.
Keyword tags on cards (experimental)
Some cards carry one of four tags from a word list that runs in your browser (no AI): Matched support-related keywords, Matched criticism-related keywords, Mixed (both kinds matched) or Unclassified (no list word matched). The number in brackets is how many list words matched. This is not sentiment analysis and there is no confidence score.
- Limits: it reads only Hindi, Hinglish and English; it cannot detect sarcasm, quotes, questions or reporting of someone else's words; a simple “not / नहीं” check flips a word but misses most negation; it tags official posts too, so a tag describes the words used, not public opinion.
Data status labels
The chip in the header uses the latest source-health check, evaluated in this order:
- Unavailable no successful collection yet, or fewer than half of the checked feeds answered.
- Delayed the last successful collection is more than 15 minutes old (three missed 5-minute cycles).
- Partial at least one feed failed, or more than 20% of feeds returned no items.
- Updated everything else: collected within 15 minutes, no feed errors, at most 20% empty.
A feed is counted as stale when it answered but its newest item is older than 12 hours (24 hours for the PM's own-post feeds, 72 hours for the opposition leaders' own-post feeds, which look back 3 days). Stale feeds are reported, but do not change the chip, because Google News indexing delay makes some staleness normal.
History and coverage gaps
- History: there is no server-side archive. Feeds return roughly the last 24 hours (3 days for single opposition leaders). Trend lines use snapshots saved in your own browser since your first visit (the Trends page shows when tracking began in this browser).
- Languages: Google News has no Kannada, Urdu or Odia edition for India, so those languages are not covered.
- X posts: known accounts (PM Modi, PMO, the listed opposition leaders, PTI, ANI, IANS, UNI) are read from their public timelines through FxTwitter, a free public service that X does not run; if it stops answering, the page falls back to Google News' index of X, which is hours late. Every other X post comes only from Google News' index, so most posts never appear and their authors are often unknown on this server. PTI and UNI have no Hindi X account that these sources return.
- Profile photos: saved copies for the fixed list of leaders and agencies; for other accounts, the photo X shows publicly, fetched by this site. When no photo can be found, the card shows the account's initials.
- Small states and UTs are often thin or empty in a 24-hour window.
- Not available (need a server database, accounts or paid/official APIs): shared history and server scheduling, alerts, accounts and audit log, official X API data, coordinated-activity detection, AI sentiment.
Privacy and corrections
- Privacy: no accounts, no cookies, no analytics. Your theme, saved searches and cached data stay in this browser's local storage. The server keeps no visitor data; the contact form is delivered by FormSubmit. See the Privacy Policy.
- Corrections: if a link, label or rule here is wrong, use the contact form or the Grievance Officer listed in the Privacy Policy. Headlines themselves belong to their publishers; Bharat Pulse cannot edit them.
🔒 Coming soon Needs official APIs or a server, so these are switched off for now
- Coordinated-activity indicatorNeeds account-level data (account age, posting times, repeated text) that only the official X API provides.
- YouTubeNeeds the YouTube Data API (free key, daily quota).
- Instagram & FacebookNeeds Meta's approved API access; public posts cannot be read reliably without it.
- RedditNeeds Reddit's API (registered app; commercial use needs approval).
- Keyword watchlists, alerts & historyNeeds a small database and user accounts (planned for Phase 2).
